How Do You Write Affirmations?

The use of affirmations can often be misunderstood and some people may even refer to them as new age nonsense. Maybe you have tried using affirmations already and because you did not get any positive results, you think that they don’t work or that they are a waste of time. It’s possible you’re absolutely right … that is … unless you learn how do them properly.

Just like your car – which is nothing more than a piece of machinery sitting your garage – it will never do anything unless you know how to use it properly. When you do learn how to use it, start the engine, give it fuel and you put your foot on the accelerator – it takes off and will take you wherever you want to go.  In the same way, when you give your affirmations fuel, energy and power, they will take off and attract back to you those things that you desire.

A common misconception about affirmations is that they are “magical incantations” that will transform your life circumstances if you chant and recite them over and over again.

Want to earn more money?  Then recite an affirmation that you are a millionaire, and *poof!* you are wealthy.

Unfortunately, it’s just not that easy.

Most of the “ready-made” affirmation examples you see in books and online use strong wording and make bold claims that differ dramatically from your current experience:

I am healthy, wealthy and happy.

I have endless energy and vitality.

Money flows easily to me.

I am fit, strong and confident.

I am in a committed, healthy relationship.

The problem is that your subconscious mind will resist statements like these if they aren’t true for YOU. They don’t fit into your existing belief system therefore you cannot internalize them – not as they currently are, anyway. That’s why simply saying that you are wealthy won’t make you wealthy.

So, does that mean affirmations don’t work?

Not at all!

They work beautifully – if you use them in the right way.

We are what we think.  All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we, make the world.
